The Richwood longneck banjo is tuned in the low E tuning at the same intervals as the G tuning of a standard banjo. This low tuning can be used in many styles of music and suits many singers better than the higher pitched G tuning. The open back of this banjo gives it a round, soft sound. To make sure it doesn't drown in the mix, the Richwood RMB-1405-LN has a Whyte Laydie tone ring that gives it plenty of volume and clarity. This banjo has two coordinator rods that provide improved stability.

The most famous longneck banjo player is Pete Seeger.
The fingerboard is scalloped from the 18th fret to facilitate the frailing technique. Due to the long neck, a standard carrying case would not fit and we include a case with every Richwood RMB-1405-LN. Due to the lower tuning, medium gauge strings are used.
